Funeral services for Warren Edward Krueger, age 79, of Perham, MN, will be Monday, July 19, 2004, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Terry Grzybowski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham is Sunday, July 18, 2004, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday. Warren died at his home, Wednesday, July 14, 2004.
Warren was born February 15, 1925, the youngest of seven children, to Herman and Louisa (Kerbs) Krueger, in Perham, MN. He grew up and attended school in Perham. Following graduation in 1942, he entered the U.S. Navy and served in Okinawa, Japan, during World War II. On April 20, 1947, Warren was united in marriage to Helen Mattfeld at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham. Warren was employed by Krueger Transfer, Pine Lakes Hatchery and lastly, at Tuffy's Pet Foods, as Plant Superintendent, until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, re-finishing woodwork, playing and watching baseball, Square Dance calling and dancing, bowling and playing cards. Warren also enjoyed wintering in Weslaco, TX and morning coffee with his friends at the local cafAsh. He was a member of the Perham VFW Post 4020, where he enjoyed calling Bingo. He was also a member of the Disabled Veterans. He volunteered countless hours on the East Otter Tail Fair Board and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on the church council. Warren looked forward to spending time with family, friends, and watching his grandchildren?s activities.
Surviving Warren is his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Helen, of Perham, MN; children, Renee (Eugene) Grover, of Grand Rapids, MN, Alan (Laurie) Krueger, of Perham, MN, Connie Krueger, of Maple Lake, MN, and Pamela (Gregg) Western, of Fergus Falls, MN; grandchildren, Craig Grover, Heather Angell, Katherine Krueger, David Krueger and Jacob Western; great-grandchildren, Kristine and Aaron Grover; sister Edna Krueger Arnfield, of Carol Stream, IL and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Warren in death are his parents, Herman and Louisa Krueger; brothers, George, Otto and Henry Krueger and sisters, Louise McGrann Warner and Maybelle Foerstner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society and Lakeland Hospice.
