Tillie Tomine Rust, age 90, of Perham, MN, died at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home on April 24, 2004. Funeral services will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham, beginning at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 30, 2004, with Reverend Terry Grzybowski officiating. . Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2004, as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Tillie was born December 29, 1913, the daughter of Tom and Tillie (Selland) Thorness, in Aastad Township, Fergus Falls, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at the Aastad Lutheran Church. Tillie attended country school in District 118, rural Fergus Falls, MN.
On May 27, 1945, Tillie was united in marriage to Melvin Rust, of Richville, MN, at the Aastad Parsonage by Reverend J.M. Haaland. When her husband was discharged from the U.S. Army, the couple moved to Perham, in December 1945, where she has presided ever since. Melvin died on November 6, 1975.
Tillie was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, Perham, the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She was also active as a volunteer to age 89.
Surviving Tillie are three sisters-in-law, Anna Thorness, Viola Thorness and Elaine Rust as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Tillie in death is her husband; her parents; one sister, Hilda Holo and three brothers, Erwin, Mike and Ingvald Thorness.
