Thomas Volberding

Thomas Volberding, age 79 of Ottertail, MN died Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in Perham Living. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 2:00 on Saturday, August 13 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham, MN.

Thomas Walter Volberding was born April 16, 1943 in Rochester, MN, the son of Walter and Eldora (Prescher) Volberding. Tom graduated in 1960 from John Marshall High School and went on to attend two years at Rochester Junior College. In July of 1966, Tom was united in marriage to Alice Alcott.

Tom was the owner of Hi-Way Park Ballroom in Henning, MN for 25 years while working in sales at several auto parts stores, and for PPG Industries as a sales representative throughout the Upper Midwest before retiring in 2013. Tom loved relaxing at the lake and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving Tom is his wife Alice of Ottertail; children Terri (Vic) Krause of Duluth, MN and Scott (Anne) Volberding of Pulaski, WI; granddaughters Stephanie (Nicole) Krause of Duluth, Stacie (Tyler) Curnow of Duluth, Shania Krause of Duluth, Natalie Volberding of Bonduel, WI, and Greta Volberding of Pulaski; five great-grandchildren Isabella, Elliot, and Arlo Curnow and Soren and Nora Krause; and his siblings Anita (Pete) Lindhard of Lake Forest, IL, Dr. Paul (Dr. Molly Cooke) Volberding of San Francisco, CA, and Jane Volberding of Chicago, IL.

Preceding Tom in death were his parents and his brother Mark Volberding.

Tom’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Perham Living for the last 17 months of Tom’s care.
