Tom was born to Anton and Erna (Schweigert) Jund on January 10, 1941, at home in Zeeland, ND. Tom attended Zeeland High School and graduated from the University of ND-Ellendale with a double major in Business and Physical Education. In 1961 he married Kay Louise Collett in Ellendale, ND. Shortly thereafter they moved to Sykeston, ND, where he was a teacher and the high school principal for two years. They moved to Forman, ND, in 1964 where he taught high school business courses up until 1974. At that time, he took a position at the Sargent County Bank working with loans and investments. In April of 1990, Tom and Kay bought and managed the Char-Mac Resort on Little Pine Lake near Perham, MN. Due to Tom's health problems, Tom and Kay sold the resort in 1992. At that time, Tom retired and they moved into Perham. Throughout his life, and especially during his retirement years, Tom found much enjoyment spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was proud of his grandchildren's accomplishments and they brought him great pleasure and entertainment. During his college years he had a passion for baseball and played for a minor league team, the Aberdeen Pheasants. Tom had a variety of interests and hobbies: hunting, fishing, softball, playing trumpet in community bands, and singing bass in the church choir and community cantatas. During the past two years he loved traveling with his wife, sister-in-law Diana and her husband Jerry. After his retirement, Tom became an underpaid, but very much appreciated, househusband and gardener.
Tom is survived by his wife, Kay, Perham, MN; two sons, Thomas A (Marie) Jund, Havre, MT; Tracy (Lisa) Jund, Lisbon, ND; two daughters, Genieve (Tom) Thayer, Colfax, ND; Amy (Stacy) Walden, Gillette, WY; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Kellin, Rylan, Destiny, Myah, Brant and Ethan; a brother, Ray (Lorraine) Jund, Mandan, ND; five sisters, Elsie Seiler, Celia Wald, Francis (Arnold) Schmitt, all of Bismarck, ND; Mary Lou (Emil) Hamann, Danvers, MN; and Donna (Richard) Senftner, Herried, SD.
