Swen D. Hallberg, age 87, of Minneapolis, MN, died July 24, 2007. A family graveside service will be held in St. Henry's Catholic Cemetery, August 2, 2007, 2:00 pm, with Father Joe Herzing officiating.
Swen was born December 14, 1919, in Vimmerby, Sweden. He was a member of Gustavus II Adolphus Society and in the Swedish Army where he was a horseman for the calvary. Swen moved to the United States in 1957 and worked as a machinist for Acme Machine Company. He was united in marriage to Marie (Snelgrove) Smith on September 4, 1959. On April 18, 1962, Swen became a United States Citizen. He was a devoted sports fan, especially liking the MN Twins. Swen enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cribbage, and an occasional outing to the casino. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed dancing.
Swen is survived by two daughters, Lillemor and Ingmarie; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; special nieces, Cookie and Caryl; and special friends, Swen and LaVonne Hedin.
Preceding Swen in death are his parents; wife, Marie; and ten siblings.
