Funeral services for Stanley David Schroeder, age 80, of Perham, MN, will be Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Perham, beginning at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Roger Parks officiating. There will be visitation two hours prior to the service at the church, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Stanley died October 15, 2004, in the Perham Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Stanley was born July 20, 1924, in Granton, Wisconsin, to Coral (Whereatt) and Leonard Schroeder. He moved with his family to the Schroeder family farm in Camp Douglas, WI, in the early 1930s, and graduated from high school in 1942. After a year at the University of Wisconsin, he left college to farm the family farm for his mother.
On March 15, 1947, Stanley married Madeline Grund and they raised seven children; three sons, Daniel (Kaaren), of Arlington Heights, IL, Ronald (Mary), of Peoria, AZ, Alan ( Sandra), of Hustler, WI and four daughters, Yvonne Martin, Mounds View, MN, Barbara (Eugene) Mravek, of Portage, WI, Nancy (David) O?Brien, of Cordova, AL and Joyce (Dean) Duescher, of Hustler, WI. In 1989, Stanley retired to Little Pine Lake, rural Perham, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and his flower gardens. He was a fifty-five year Wisconsin American Legion member and also belonged to the Perham VFW, Post 4020 and the Perham Lions Club. He especially loved his years of working with the Perham Express.
Stanley leaves his wife, Madeline, of Perham; his children; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two brothers, Darrell and Fred.
Preceding Stanley in death were his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Forrest.
