Sister Mary Clarentia (Anne) Kroll, age 95, of Perham, MN, died on October 20, 2004 at MeritCare Health Systems in Fargo, ND. A Mass of Remembrance will take place at St. Henry's Church, Perham, on Saturday, October 23, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at St. Henry's Church from 5-8 p.m., Friday, October 22. A Franciscan Prayer Service will be held at St. Henry's Church on Friday at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, MN, on Monday, October 25, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the St. Francis Convent on Sunday, October 24, from 4-8:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until the time of the funeral on October 25. Burial will take place in the St. Francis Convent Cemetery.
Sister Mary Clarentia was born on May 23, 1909, near Royalton, MN. She was the 11th of 13 children born to the late Lawrence and Johanna (Mucha) Kroll. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, MN, on August 12, 1931, made first profession of vows on August 12, 1933 and final vows on August 12, 1936. She was a Franciscan Sister for 73 years. Sister Clarentia ministered in health care all her religious life. She served in Dodgeville, WI; Breckenridge, Moorhead, and Alexandria, MN. In 1960, Sister Clarentia came to Perham, MN where she ministered until her death.
Preceding Sister Clarentia in death are all of her siblings, Paul, William, Frances Bursch, Bridget Zwack, Frank, Joseph, Ignatius, Roman, Reverend Aloysius, Benedict, Emily Smieja and Helen Kalis.
Surviving Sister Clarentia are her relatives in her Franciscan Community: nieces, Sisters Lillian Kroll, Leonette Bursch and Felicia Kroll, all of Little Falls, MN; Sister Ida Bursch, of St. Cloud, MN; Sister Adeline Kroll, of Berkeley, CA; cousin, Sister Gemma Gallus as well as many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and her Franciscan Community.
