Sheila June (Lien) Widness, 63, passed away on the 23rd day of June at the Frazee Care Center under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Sheila June Lien was born in Perham, MN on June 26, 1956, the first daughter of Carl “Bud” and Aryls (Brown) Lien. Sheila attended and graduated from Perham High School in 1974. It was during her sophomore year while riding the activity bus that her best friend introduced her to Arvin Widness. The rest as they say, is history. They were united in marriage on March 30, 1974.
Sheila did clerical/office work at the high school, then later at Swenson (Offutt) Potato Farms alongside her mother Aryls. Hard work never phased her. She also worked at Kenny’s Candy, Perham Linen, and Tuffy’s Pet foods. Her talent for dealing with the public led her to excel in waitressing at The Otter, The Raven (Cactus), and Pier 38. This also led to retail jobs at Bretz Hardware, Perham Oasis, and The Wagon wheel in Richville. While she enjoyed working and the people she interacted with, there came a time when due to her health, she had to stop working outside of the house.
Sheila was active outside of the workplace as well. She was a member of the Richville Lions Club, she was involved in the planning stages of the building of the new schools in Perham, and until her illness prevented her participating, she was a member of the local town council and was an election judge.
Arvin and Sheila were blessed with two children, Chad Lloyd and Kelly June. She was a great mom, but what a blessing to see her with those grandbabies!! Her world revolved around Jared, Mackenzie, Brody, Jacob, and Laura. She immersed herself in being grandma. She was never happier than when rocking, feeding, playing, or cuddling with her grandbabies. She always made time for them, and attended countless programs, shows, and competitions. For as much as she loved them, she was just about the most adored grandma ever!!
We are blessed to have loved her and to have been loved by her, she will be missed more than she will ever know!!
Sheila is survived by her husband of 46 years, Arvin; her son Chad (Jennifer) of Kramer, ND; her daughter Kelly (Nick) of Ottertail, MN; three grandsons Jared, Jacob, and Brody; two granddaughters Mackenzie and Laura; three sisters Shelby of Perham, Bonnie (Steve) of Richville, and Tammy (Jack) of Richville; her brother Randy (Lisa) of Battle Lake, MN; brothers-in-law Gale and Marlin; and sister-in-law Bernice.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Gary; and her sister-in-law Hazel.
