Roger Nelson

Roger E. Nelson, age 69, of Underwood, MN, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 , at Lake Region Hospital , Fergus Falls , MN .


Roger was born February 14, 1941 , in Oakland , NE , the son of Earl and Elsie (Stunkel) Nelson. He graduated high school in Norfolk , NE , in 1958 and on December 18, 1960 , he was united in marriage to Barbara Collins. Together they had four children. Roger worked for his parents at the Sportsman’s Bar and Bait Shop in Vergas , MN , and also had the bait shop at Phelps Mill for ten years. He was employed by Mid-American Dairy for thirty years and retired in 1995. Roger loved trapping, hunting, fishing and being in the crowd following his grandchildren’s baseball games, wrestling matches, races and other activities.



Roger is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons, Ricky (Sara) Nelson, Alexandria, MN; Mike (Fritz) Nelson, Battle Lake, MN; and Randy Nelson (Teri), Ottertail, MN; a daughter Kimberly (Tony) Ellingson, Dent, MN; and eight grandchildren, Nathan, Brooke, John, Timothy, Philip, Bradley, Dylan and Luke.



Preceding Roger in death are his parents, Earl and Elsie.
