Roger Marweg

Roger E. Marweg, age 77 of Perham, MN died Monday, March 4, 2019 in his home. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Visitation will resume from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 on Friday, March 8 at New Creation Lutheran Church in Perham. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Dora Township rural Dent, MN.

Roger Elmer Marweg was born in Dent, MN on May 18, 1941, the son of Elmer and Nettie (Preston) Marweg. Roger was baptized on June 8, 1941 and confirmed on June 19, 1955. On October 20, 1962, Roger was united in marriage to Jean C. Gruse at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Dora. Roger, or Butch as some knew him, operated a dairy farm near Dent for about 40 years. While on the farm, Roger was employed by the Dent Creamery where he hauled milk cans and butchered. Roger also served ten years on the Dead Lake Township Board as Clerk. After dairy farming, Roger and Jean moved to Perham where Roger owned and operated Marweg Crop Insurance until his retirement on January 1, 2019. Roger loved watching both the Twins and Vikings, working with wood, playing cards, visiting with friends and family, and helping at church.

Surviving Roger is his loving wife Jean of Perham; his daughters Deborah Marweg of Audubon, MN and Donna (Chris) Schwab of Albertville, MN; his grandchildren Jessalyn (Nick) Thompson, Lindsey Olson, Jonathan Olson and Nathaniel Dornbusch; his great-grandchildren Corbin and Remick Thompson; and his sister Karen (Darold) Eckert of Hoyt Lakes, MN.

Preceding Roger in death were his parents; his step-mother Betty Marweg; and his brother Gordon Marweg.

Memorials are preferred to either Roger's family or New Creation Lutheran Church in Perham.
