Robert M. Limanen, age 62, of New York Mills, MN, died at St. Mary?s Nursing Center, Detroit Lakes, MN, Monday, February 28, 2005, while being cared for by hospice. Services will be at a later date in the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Camp Ripley, Little Falls, MN.
Robert was born on November 8, 1942, the son of William and Hilja (Suvykangas) Limanen, in New York Mills, MN. He was united in marriage to Sally Sterling, on July 6, 1963, in Faribualt, MN. Robert entered the U.S. Air Force, during the Viet Nam era, serving from December 29, 1966 until his honorable discharge on December 9, 1970. He was employed at Land O' Lakes, Perham, MN, for twenty-eight years. Robert loved deer hunting and fishing. He was a member of the American Legion in Sebeka, MN, and VFW Post 3289, in New York Mills, MN.
Surviving Robert is his wife, Sally, of New York Mills, MN; two brothers, Edwin (Lani), of Brooklyn Center, MN and Kenneth (Connie), of California; four sisters, Dorothy (Carl) Baumann, of Brooklyn Park, MN, Shirley Keto, of Brooklyn Center, MN, Edith Von Ruden, of Perham, MN, and Mary (Robbie) Ingram, of Brooklyn Park MN as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Robert in death were his parents; two brothers, Arne and Wilbert and one sister, Ruth Carlson.
