Robert "Bob" Leroy Collins, age 60, of Perham, MN, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at the Perham Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dent, MN. Reverend Larry Schmidt will officiate with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham from 4-8 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm.
Bob was born August 8, 1944 to Harold and Marian (Backstrom) Collins of Star Lake Township. Bob attended school through the seventh grade at District 144 in Star Lake Township and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1964. He joined the National Guard in 1964 and served his basic training at Fort Jackson, SC. Bob married Joyce Wendt on August 20, 1966 in Dent. They lived in the Dent-Perham area where Bob was a union block layer for 40 years. Bob enjoyed deer hunting, watching sports, gardening, grilling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joyce; three sons, Glen (Sue Boedigheimer) Collins, Fargo, ND; Greg Collins, Wyoming, MN; Justin Collins, Wadena, MN; a daughter, Rhonda (Pat) Vareberg, Wadena, MN; two grandchildren, Amanda and Brandon; one brother, Bruce (Bev) Collins, Sarasota, FL; three sisters, Barb (Roger) Nelson, Maine, MN; Betty Obright, Dent, MN; Bonnie (Ronnie) Norgren, Dalton, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, Robert Obright and one infant niece, Jody Lynn.
