Ricky Alan Tobkin was born July 15, 1961, in Perham, MN to Mac and Dorothy (Grismer) Tobkin. He graduated from Perham High School in 1980 and went to work on the family farm. Rick was passionate about farming, but the real love of his life was his wife, Lynn (Western).
Rick and Lynn were married August 5, 1983 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Perham, MN. Soon after, they moved to the family farm where they welcomed five children; Sarah, Alicia, Amanda, Nicholas and Emily.
Family was Rick's most important priority. He loved getting together for weddings, holidays and other celebrations, but most of all he loved spending time at home with his wife, kids and their families. Rick's greatest joys in life were being married to his best friend and being a father. Rick felt passionately that his purpose in life was to give his children guidance to be the best they could be, to teach strong moral values by example, to react to life and its challenges positively and to be kind and respectful to every person. Rick had a very generous spirit and treated all people with dignity and respect. Through his many health challenges, Rick always kept his faith in God.
On Monday, January 12, 2015, at the age of 53, Rick passed away peacefully at 7th Heaven Assisted Living in Perham. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; children Sarah (Luke) Kuster, Alicia (Ben) Mergen, Amanda (Tyler) Doll, Nicholas and Emily; grandchildren Madelynn (3), Olivia (2), Brayden (1), Ella (7 months) and Evelyn (2 months); father Mac Tobkin, siblings Ron (Sally) Tobkin, Paul (Jutta) Tobkin, Mark (Yong Ja) Tobkin, Linda (Ken) Richter, Neil (Sherry) Tobkin, Connie Stoll, Mary (Ray) Hendrickx and Sharon (Kim) Steeke; and many nieces and nephews.
