Dick was born March 28, 1922, in Duluth, MN, to John and Elizabeth Rocheleau. He grew up in Duluth, graduating from Duluth Central High School in 1939. In 1942, Dick entered the U.S. Army to serve in the Second World War. His service took place in France, Italy, Germany and Africa, and following injury, Dick was awarded the Purple Heart. During World War II, he met his future wife, Rudolfine, in Germany, and after the war, brought her and her two sons, Rainier and Karl, to Duluth, MN. Dick then attended Business College in Duluth and worked as an accounting clerk from 1952 to 1982 for the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railroad. In 1952, Dick and Rudolfine had a daughter, Rosemary, and in 1958, they had a son, Randy, who died in 1967.
Dick and Rudolfine lived in Duluth until 1982, when they retired and moved to Minneapolis, MN. Their retirement years were spent with family and good friends. They went on many trips and enjoyed golfing. Dick's passion was golf. He was an excellent golfer and was proud of his five holes-in-one. During the past four years of Dick's life, he enjoyed wintering and golfing in Lakeland, Florida, where he made some good friends. This past year, Richard moved to the Perham Memorial Nursing Home where he was treated with exceptional, compassionate care. Dick will be missed very much but we know he is now in his heavenly home.
