Richard E. "Rick" Honer, age 57, of Dent, MN, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Lake Region Healthcare, Fergus Falls, MN. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dent, with Father Arlie Sowada officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 21, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dent, and also one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Richard "Rick" Eugene Honer was born to Jake and Frances (Cullen) Honer on November 28, 1950. Rick went to country school, District 1523, until seventh grade when he then went to Perham High School; graduating in 1968. That same year he enlisted in the US Army, and stationed in Korea. Upon an honorable discharge, he was employed by Gary Honer Construction and William Collins and Sons Construction, Fargo, ND. Since 1978 he has been employed by Mark's Sand and Gravel, Fergus Falls, MN. He was married to Marilyn Hexum on December 23, 1974. Of this union, they had Rickee Jean and Ryan Errol. Marilyn died in 2004. Rick was an avid outdoorsman being involved in hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Rickee (Travis) Anderson, Dent, MN; granddaughter, Mikayla (the light of his life); and son, Ryan (Maggie) Honer, Fergus Falls, MN; grandson, Jake (his most recent joy); mother, Frances Cullen Honer Nelson, Dent, MN; brothers, Gary (Rose) Honer, Dent, MN; Timothy (Marlene) Honer, Dent, MN; Mark (Lisa) Honer, Prole, IA; and Patrick (Pam) Honer, Dent, MN; sisters, Deborah Honer, OSF, Flensburg, MN; Angie (Mike) Harthun, Vergas, MN; Kathy (Ron) Harthun, Dent, MN; and Debby (Gerry) Honer-Gevedon, Lexington, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Rick in death are his father, Jake Honer; wife, Marilyn; and brothers, Louis and Dale Honer.
