Richard Davis

Richard “Dick” Davis, age 76, of Battle Lake , MN , died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 , in his home.


Dick was born on July 20, 1933 , in Neola , IA , the son of Harold and Clara Davis. He married Marianne Lobeck on June 22, 1958 , in Council Bluffs , IA. Together they had three children, Joseph, Krickett and Patrick.



Dick taught and coached baseball at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs , IA , for ten years. While coaching, he was proud to win five state baseball titles and four 2 nd place titles. When Dick was 35 years old, he was inducted into the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. At the time, he was the youngest coach to have this honor. Dick was influential in many young students and athletes continuing onto college.



After teaching and coaching, Dick spent the rest of his career in insurance, owning and operating his own agency until he retired in 1996. Dick loved to travel with his wife and played countless rounds of golf all over the country.



Dick is survived by his wife, Marrianne, of 51 years; daughter, Krickett Davis of Los Angeles , CA ; son, Patrick (Kate) Davis of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Madeline and Maxwell Davis; sister, Joyce (Paul) Woods of Treynor, IA; and two nephews, David Woods and Doug Woods and their families.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Ottertail , MN ; Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Lake Havasu City , AZ ; Lakeland Hospice; or Hospice of Arizona.
