Rev. Henry V. Buchholz, age 76, of Richville, MN, was received into his heavenly home on Friday, February 10, 2006, at Perham Memorial Hospital, Perham, MN. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13, 2006, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham, with Rev. Timothy Vaughan, Rev. Terry Grzybowski and Rev. Karl Weber officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Ottertail, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, February 12 at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm with Rev. Thomas Puffe and also one hour prior to services at the church.
Henry was born December 23, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN, to Clarence and Anna (Schultz) Buchholz. He was baptized January 12, 1930, and confirmed his faith on May 30, 1943. He graduated from Wadena High School in 1947 and then attended Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis. He served in the Air Force from 1951-1955. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, IL, in 1963 and was ordained into the holy ministry on June 9, 1963. He served churches in Waldorf, MN; Glendora, MI; Warren-Radium, MN; Hankinson, ND; and Appleton-Shible Township, MN. He retired from the ministry in October 1988. He then served numerous vacancies in the Perham/Ottertail and surrounding area. He also served as assisting pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham, MN. He was united in marriage to Mildred Thalmann on June 15, 1958. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. Mildred entered her eternal home on June 12, 1989. He was united in marriage to Martha Bjorklund Sundberg on October 19, 1991.
Henry is survived by his loving wife, Martha, Richville, MN; five sons: Alan (Diane), Panama City, FL; Keith (Ruth), New York Mills, MN; Duane, San Diego, CA; Stephen, CA; Glenn, MI; one daughter, Karen (Rev. Thomas) Puffe, LaMoure, ND; two stepsons, Douglas (Gail) Sundberg, Richville, MN; Gary Sundberg, Ottertail, MN; two stepdaughters, Carol Paurus, Menahga, MN; Dr. Sylvia (Dale) Minnerath, Sartell, MN; nine grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Wittel, Bethel, MN; and one brother, James (Mary), Carbondale, KS.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mildred; daughter, Cynthia; two brothers, Ralph and David; and one sister, Mary.
Henry will be missed by many but we know that now he is WAY "above average". Praise the Lord!
