Paul J. Grismer

On Saturday, July 29, 2023, Paul Joseph Grismer, age 93, passed away peacefully at Perham Living, Perham, MN, where he resided for 11 years.

Paul was born May 19, 1930, to John Baptist and Olga (Butler) Grismer. On August 1, 1953, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Linette Atkinson. In their 68 years of marriage, they raised seven children: Susan, Evonne, Lee, Larry, Mary, Angela, and James.

Growing up, Paul was the second youngest of 12 children. After high school, he spent time working on the family farm and helping his father with the Grismer Gravel Pit. He later joined the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in California and Alaska. He then went on to work at Land O’Lakes in Perham followed by managing the Perham Liquor Store while also driving school bus for Bauck Busing for 40 years.

His pride and joy were his grandkids. He loved spending time with them and also meticulously keeping up his lawn. Paul enjoyed deer hunting with his good buddies every year, loved entertaining with friends, and telling his endless jokes. Paul will always be remembered for his amazing bear hugs and strong handshakes.

Surviving Paul are his six children: Susan of Perham, Evonne of Moorhead, Lee (Lori) of Perham, Larry of Perham, Angela of Ventura, CA, and James of Plymouth, MN; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Paul in death were his parents; his beloved wife Linette; daughter Mary Aitken; son-in-law John Ogroske; and his 11 siblings, as he was the last remaining child of John and Olga Grismer.

We are thankful for you Dad and your dedication as a father and grandfather. We love you endlessly and will always have a special place in our hearts for you.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. with parish prayers at 6:30 on Friday, August 18 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Visitation will resume from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the Memorial Mass at 11:00 on Saturday, August 19 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Perham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
