Pamela Fern Hohenstein, age 56, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on March 16th, 2024, at her home. Pamela was born as a twin on February 27th, 1968 in Perham, MN.
Pammy grew up in Dent, MN, living by Dead Lake with her mom, dad, and siblings. Pam graduated from Perham High School in 1986. She worked through Productive Alternatives by cleaning the Comet Theatre, Super 8 Motel and Super America Convenience Store. In 2012, Pammy moved to Moorhead and lived with her sister, Debbie, until moving into the Creative Care for Reaching Independence (CCRI) group home in 2014. She also worked at a thrift store through CCRI. Pammy was always looking forward to retirement to have more time for playing office, shopping, and other fun things. She also couldn't wait to quit being bossed around.
Pammy had a warm and inviting personality, always ready with a smile and a hug for everyone she met. She cared deeply for her family and friends, always showing her big heart to those around her. Growing up by Dead Lake, Pammy learned to swim at an early age and would spend hours swimming in the lake (we often referred to her as a fish and mom had a hard time getting Pammy out of the lake to come to supper.) Pammy would often walk or ride her three-wheeled bike down to Pocahontas Resort to buy penny candy. She definitely loved sweets. She had a passion for dancing, often being the first one on the dance floor and the last one off. She enjoyed singing, often accompanying her beautiful voice with instrumental music from a guitar or keyboard that she would like to play. One of Pammy's favorite pastimes was playing "office", often borrowing family member's mail so she could use it for playtime. Pammy loved to be a part of family gatherings and community events.
She is survived by her brothers, Donald (Joanne), Daniel (Janet), Vincent (Teri); sisters, Mary Wiebe, Debbie (Mike) Benson; her twin sister, Paula (Dwayne) Gladback; sister-in-law, Dana; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Donald; brother, Victor; and brother-in-law, Lyle Wiebe.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Northwoods Life Church in Perham at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Dent, MN.
