Norma Lovina Sharp McConachie, 100, passed away on April 13, 2024 at Hadley House in Perham MN.

Norma was born in Okmulgee, OK on September 10, 1923 to Frances Hurd Sharp and William Emmett Sharp.  She grew up in Okmulgee with five brothers and two sisters.  She graduated from Okmulgee High School. She riveted airplane wings for the war effort for Douglas Aircraft Company in Tulsa, OK.

She met Nathaniel “Sandy” McConachie, an Air Force soldier from MN, at a USO event at the local roller-skating rink. They were married in Okmulgee in her parent’s home on January 11, 1943. Norma and Sandy made their home in MN and were proud parents to six children, Carol Grouws (Douglas), Donald McConachie (Cynthia), Mary Eckhoff (Wayne), Margaret Shaner (Allan), Leona Rogers (Glenn) and Dale McConachie (Geri).

Norma is survived by her oldest five children and spouses; 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nathaniel; son, Dale; granddaughter, Nicole; and her siblings.

Norma was an excellent homemaker, skilled seamstress and quilter, renowned baker and cook.  She was a music lover, pianist and singer.  She was deeply devoted to her family.  Norma has always believed that there is joy and satisfaction in knowing and following Jesus.  She lived out the message in Ecclesiastics 3:12, “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.”
