Nora Cavanagh

Nora June Cavanagh, age 78, of Perham , MN , died peacefully Wednesday, July 23, 2008 , at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home surrounded by her family.


Nora June Cavanagh was born to William and Nora (Patnode) Lee on February 27, 1930 , in Durand , WI . She graduated from Perham High School in 1947. June attended Hamline University in St. Paul , MN , and then worked for the Minneapolis Grain Exchange. She returned to Perham where she worked for her parents at their businesses, the Grand View Heights Resort and Perham State Bank. On January 24, 1953 , June was united in marriage to John “Jack” Cavanagh of Walhalla, ND. They made their home in Perham where they raised three sons.



June had a wide variety of interests. In her younger years she enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and waterskiing. Later, golf became her passion. Family was always of utmost importance to June. She loved cooking for family gatherings. Time spent with her grandchildren was special, including watching them golf. She also loved dogs and was very willing to “dog sit” for all the Cavanagh pets. In 1978, Jack and June started wintering in Apopka , FL. There they met many new friends. They enjoyed golfing and looked forward to their children and grandchildren coming for visits.



June touched the hearts of everyone she met. People enjoyed her sense of humor, her wit, and her zest for life.



June is survived by her husband of 55 years, John “Jack” Cavanagh, Perham, MN; sons, Charles (Kathy) Cavanagh; William (Deena) Cavanagh; and Robert (Gina) Cavanagh, all of Perham, MN; nine grandchildren, Jay Cavanagh, St. Louis Park, MN; Jen (Ryan) Hendrickson, Detroit Lakes, MN; Mike Cavanagh, Minneapolis, MN; Blake Riewer, Lee Cavanagh, Taylor Cavanagh, Pat Cavanagh, Kari Cavanagh, and Dan Cavanagh, all of Perham, MN.



Preceding June in death are her parents, William and Nora Lee



Memorials are preferred to the Perham Memorial Nursing Home or the Lakeside Golf Course Beautification Fund.
