Nicholas Poss

Nicholas Bernard Poss, 76, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Perham Living Center. Born and raised in Wyndmere, ND, the son of Bernard and Anastasia (Novotny) Poss, he was a long time resident of East Grand Forks, MN. In his early years, Nick worked on the family farm in Wyndmere, ND. An active member of the Future Farmers of America and 4-H, Nick graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1956. Nick served with the United States Army, stationed at Fort Leonardwood, MO until 1964. Following his military service, Nick moved to the Battle Lake area and attended the Detroit Lakes Technical School. He met his wife, Anita, at church and they were married in 1967 at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, MN.

Nick had an avid interest in cars and worked for many years in the automotive industry in the parts department and as a delivery driver for various dealerships. He religiously read the newspaper daily and especially enjoyed the occasional car magazine. Nick's real passion was family and he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, sharing their lives with his loving wife, Anita. Following 37 years in East Grand Forks, Nick and Anita recently moved to Perham, MN in order to be closer to their family.

Nick leaves his wife of 47 years, Anita (Kieffer) Poss; his children: Bridgette (CJ) Holl, Pelican Rapids; Melanie (Kurt) Humfeld, Eden Prairie; Natalie (Eric) Abell, Perham; Nicholas (Valerie) Poss, Alvarado; and Abby Poss, Dilworth; and his grandchildren: Lily and Daisy Holl; KC, Lindsey and Cody Humfeld; Brandon and Brianna Abell; Hannah and Kaitlin Abell; Katherine, Bethany and Dominick Poss; and Isaac Poss. Nick is also survived by his sisters: Marilyn (Roger) Stallman, Meg (Tim) Britton; and brother, Jerome (Mary) Poss. Nick is further survived by sister-in-laws: Diann (Bob) Hokanson and Lori (Dan) Brouillard and brother-in-laws: Robert Kieffer, Jim (Donna) Kieffer, Dennis (Beverly) Kieffer, Randy (Jan) Kieffer, Tom (Lucy) Kieffer, Nick (Patricia) Kieffer, and David (Angie) Kieffer.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24 beginning at 9:00 AM followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 AM at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Perham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
