Nancy Marie Staheli, (Rorvick), 85, completed her life on this earth March 22, 2024. She was a nurse, mid-wife, adventurer and sailor. A lover of nature and wilderness. Babies, dogs and books were her passion.
She’s preceded in death by parents, Sigvard and Amy Rorvick; sister, Lorain Amundson; nephew, Eric Amundson; and grandnephew, Wade Gordon.
She is survived by her brother, Marvin (Kay) Rorvick; nephew, Anthony Rorvick; former sister-in-law and beloved friend, Gunn Sandik; nieces, Kari Mitchell and Laura Thompson; and sixteen great-nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of North High School, Minneapolis and of Fairview School of Nursing, Minneapolis. Nancy traveled and worked in Alaska, British Columbia, and Project Hope in Brazil. Having discovered her calling, she attended the Frontier School of Nursing and Nurse-Midwifery, Hyden, KY. In 1975, she moved to Perham, MN, serving the region for 20 years providing obstetric, maternal, and childcare. During her long mid-wife career, she delivered over 2,000 babies.
Upon retirement in 2000, she traveled to Norway with her sister to connect with family there. She also spent her early retirement years aboard her sailboat, Esperanca, moored in Bayfield, WI.
She spent the last year of her life in Arbor Lakes Senior Living, Maple Grove. Her family is grateful for the loving, generous staff at Arbor Lakes and Brighton Hospice who tended for Nancy in her final days. Her family is also indebted to Sue and Fred Sailer, Julie Doll, Jeff and Cori Brown and Roxanne Rehm, Perham, for their friendship, care, support, and love they bestowed on Nancy during her years at home.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Calvary Lutheran Church in PerhamSaturday, April 20, 2024
