Maxine F. Woods, age 90 of Dent, MN died Saturday, August 24, 2013 at The Thomas House I in Perham MN. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 beginning at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Dent, MN with Pastor Jerry Bass officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Burial will take place in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dent.
Maxine was born on February 17, 1923 near Dunnell, MN the daughter of Winfield and J. Loneta (Headley) Cooper. Her mother died when she was 6 days old and she was raised by her maternal grandparents. She graduated from Sherburn High School, Sherburn MN and attended the College of Commerce (a medical secretarial school) of Minneapolis. Maxine worked for a family physician and then in the office of St. John's Hospital of St. Paul. On June 2, 1942 she was united in marriage to Herbert R. Woods of South St. Paul and they lived there until 1943 when they moved to Sherburn, MN where they had a milk route and dairy farm. In 1949 they purchased a dairy farm near Dent, MN. She was active in the United Methodist Church as choir director, organist, treasurer, President of United Methodist Women and also was a District UMW Officer. Maxine worked for 18 years as the Director of Medical Records at the hospital in Pelican Rapids, MN.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert; two sons: Bradley R. (Dolores) and their children Wendy (Tom) Opine and Thaddeus (Naila) Woods; Michael W. (Brenda) and their children Erin, Katrina (Blake) McGee and Vanessa (Ryan) Scudder; and 5 great-grandchildren: Brennan Woods; Claire & Sean Scudder; Liam & Everett McGee.
