Mathilda Morgenroth

Mathilda "Tillie" Morgenroth, age 89 years and 10 months, of Perham, MN, died suddenly Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, at 1:30 pm in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, rural Perham, with Father Arlie Sowada officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 21 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, with a prayer service at 6:00 pm, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Mathilda Greiner was born in Luxemburg, IA, to John and Theresia Greiner on February 28, 1918. Tillie was a farm wife; helping her husband, gardening, canning, and raising children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her final day. She was married to Joseph Morgenroth, son of Guenter and Anna Morgenroth, on August 11, 1942, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Rush Lake, MN. Tillie was an active member of the St. Lawrence Church Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters until a sudden illness resulted in her moving to Perham Memorial Nursing Home. There she enjoyed friends, visiting, and bingo. She loved her God, family, the MN Twins, the Vikings, and bingo; in that order.
This summer she was able to attend the weddings of three grandchildren and see many family members. She was looking forward to more weddings and great grandchildren but God chose to take her home to be with her husband, Joe, and grandson, Michael. She will be greatly missed.
Tillie is survived by four children, Gary (Barb) Morgenroth, Waite Park, MN; Mary (Bob) Nephew, Erskine, MN; Tom (Barb) Morgenroth, Perham, MN; and Jim (Michelle) Morgenroth, Harwood, ND; five sisters; nine grandchildren, Daniel Morgenroth, St. Cloud, MN; Christine Morgenroth, St. Cloud, MN; Jennifer (Stacy) Cook, Hudson, WI; Chris (Jaime) Nephew, Laredo, TX; Cathleen (Nate) Smesrud, Mandan, ND; Jeremy Morgenroth, Erskine, MN; Charles (Alicia) Morgenroth, Apple Valley, MN; Jon (Sarah) Morgenroth, Belton, MO; and Sam Morgenroth, Bemidji, MN; and two great grandchildren, Jessica and Ashley.
Preceding Tillie in death are her parents; husband, Joseph; one grandson, Michael Morgenroth; three sisters; and three brothers.
