Mary Ann Loerzel, 80, passed away at Lilac Homes in Dilworth, Minnesota on April 28, 2020, surrounded by love.
Mary Ann was born on September 8, 1939 to Frank and Beatrice (Perkerwicz) Kowalski in Minto, North Dakota. She enjoyed growing up in a small town with her four siblings.
On July 7, 1955, Mary Ann married Paul Loerzel. Together they were blessed with Mary Ann’s pride and joy, four sons: Scott, Mark, Luke, and Rick. They made a home in Perham, Minnesota, and owned and operated the Holiday Service Station Stores in Perham and Pelican Rapids, Minnesota until their retirement.
Mary Ann lived a full and vibrant life. She loved her cars and became known as “Mama Jag” for all her time spent cruising the streets of Perham in her Jaguar. Mary Ann’s Catholic faith was very important to her, and she was a member of St. Henry’s Church in Perham. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Once someone became a member of Mary Ann’s family, she loved them unconditionally. Mary Ann could always be seen in the front row of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved taking Hannah to hockey, watching Derek and Leah play basketball, and seeing the girls’ dance performances. Mary Ann treasured and looked forward to spending time with Ellie, and her visits with Jacob and Nicholas. Her freezer was always prepared with a tub of vanilla ice cream to make her grandchildren ice cream cones. Mary Ann always had a smile on her face and was full of positivity, even in her last days. She will be dearly remembered by her love, life lessons, and wise cracks.
Mary Ann is survived by her sons, Scott (Bonnie) of Perham and Luke (Karlene) of Pelican Rapids; her sisters Bette, Sharon (Tom) and Phyllis; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons Mark and Rick Loerzel; brother Sonny (Frank Jr.) Kowalski; and parents Frank and Beatrice Kowalski.
A graveside service will be held at St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery in Perham.
