Mary Margaret Holzer, age 87, of Perham, MN, formerly of Butler, MN, died on January 31, 2005 at the Thomas House in Perham. Funeral services will be Friday, February 4, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Perham, with Reverend Kevin Schwartz and Reverend Don Braukman officiating. Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is Thursday, February 3, 2005, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Mary was born April 12, 1917, near Casselton, ND, to Albert and Emily (Heindrickx) Kasowski. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Casselton. Mary attended Mapleton High School, in Mapleton, ND, graduating in 1935. On October 4, 1938, Mary was united in marriage to Anton Holzer at St. Leo's Catholic Church. They lived in Mapleton when first married. A few years later, they rented a farm and then rented her grandfather's farm for five years. In 1949, Mary and Anton bought a farm near Butler, MN and lived there, with their ten children, until their retirement in 1976. At that time, they purchased a home in Perham, MN, where Anton died in 1984. Mary was organist at Holy Cross Church in Butler for almost 26 years. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Organization since 1950 at Holy Cross Church and St. Stanislaus Church.
Surviving Mary are three daughters, Mary (Robert) Hofmann, Alice (Gerald) Dittman, both of New York Mills, MN, and Renee (Anthony) Van Watermulen, of Perham, MN; six sons, Eugene (Darlene) Holzer and Joseph (Sherryl) Holzer, of Perham, MN, Michael (Susan) Holzer, of Wadena, MN, and Francis (Beverly) Holzer, Albert (Mary) Holzer and Bernard (Charlene) Holzer, all of Perham, MN; thirty grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis (Ruth) Kasowski, of Casselton, ND; four sisters, Bernadette (Adam) Radzak, of Superior, WI, Irene (Duane) Rust, of Fargo, ND, Martha (Bruno) Seppi, of Bowie, MD, and Rita (John) Anderson, of Granite Falls, MN; one sister-in-law, Shirley (John) Kasowski, of Fargo, ND and one brother-in-law, Chester (Beatrice) Radzak, of Superior, WI.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents, Albert and Emily Kasowski; husband, Anton; one son, James Holzer, in 1964; two grandchildren; three sisters, Agnes (William) Bradish, Teresa Hanson and Beatrice (Chester) Radzak and one brother, John (Shirley) Kasowski.
