Marvin A. Dretsch

Marvin Andrew Dretsch, age 87 of Dent, MN passed away peacefully at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, MN on April 2, 2023. He was born March 14, 1936, in Frazee, MN to Anthony Sr. and Ottilia (Halbauer) Dretsch. He married Ruth Ann Silbernagel on April 29, 1961 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent. They then had two sons, Mark and John. In 1972, Michael Silbernagel joined the family.

Marvin worked for Dagget Truck Line after he was married and later worked for Dart Transit Company until he retired in 1994.

Marvin truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: spending time with family and friends, bowling, going to casinos, camping, and participating in a variety of sports with the Huffer Puffers.

Marvin is survived by his sons Mark of Woodbury, MN and Michael of Denver, CO; daughter in-law, Brenda Dretsch of River Falls, WI; grandchildren Alec Mesenbourg of Costa Mesa, CA, Jesse Dretsch and Samantha Dretsch of River Falls, WI, and Ronald Silbernagel of Wahpeton, ND; his sister Betty Lou Mummah of Brooklyn Center, MN; brother and sister in-law Denny and Rosie Doll of Blaine, MN; along with many relatives and friends.

Preceding Marvin in death were his parents; his wife Ruth Ann; son John; and his brothers Tony, Ray, Bob, and Jim.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Memorial Mass at 11:00 on Thursday, May 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
