Marjorie A. “Marge” Knight, age 84, of Perham , MN , died Monday, October 12, 2009 , at the Perham Memorial Hospital .

Marge was born March 19, 1925 , in the St. Ansgar Hospital, Moorhead , MN , the second child of Carl and Clare Jacobson. She attended school in Moorhead and graduated with the class of 1942. Marge attended Dakota Business School in Fargo , ND , and worked in sales at deLendricies Clothing Store, Grosz Photography Studios, the First National Bank in Moorhead , a year at the Twin Valley Public Schools, and thirty years at the East OtterTail Telephone Company. With her personality, beautiful smile and capability Marge could have worked anyplace. On May 31, 1952 , Marge was united in marriage to John Knight of Glasgow , MT. In May 1951, John graduated from Concordia College and he was headed back to Montana but two months prior to his graduation he met Marjorie and he was stopped dead in his tracks. Their honeymoon took three months as John wanted his new beautiful bride to get to know his six brothers, parents, and an Army buddy in Oregon . They spent some wonderful time together in Glacier Park , the Pudget Sound area, the Oregon Coast , and Sun Valley , ID. Then to Yellowstone National Park and Dillon , MT , where John could fish the Beaverhead River for trout with a game warden friend and Marge could get to know the warden’s wife. They kept traveling to Glasgow , MT , to meet John’s folks and then on to Minnesota to find a place to live which turned out to be Twin Valley for John’s teaching position. Marge was a Sunday School teacher for preschoolers for years. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Marge was a good bowler, even scoring a 299 once. She loved watching television and going fishing and hunting with her husband. She was a good homemaker for their two boys and dog. In high school she was a star on the girls basketball team, loved playing her violin in the orchestra and even played the saxophone in the high school band.

John and Marge are charter members of Calvary Lutheran Church . With their church here in Perham, their family and many wonderful friends, and a home on Little Pine Lake, the roots have been dug deep. Montana is a beautiful state but Perham , Minnesota , is home.

Marge made many friends while living at the Perham Memorial Home for the past 4 ½ years. A special thank you to the staff at the Perham Memorial Hospital and Home for their loving care and also a thank you to Marge’s special Stephen Minister from Calvary Lutheran Church .

Marge is survived by husband, John, Perham , MN ; two sons, Terry (Judy) Knight, Frazee , MN ; and Dan (Laurie) Knight, St. Peter , MN ; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many friends.

Preceding Marge in death are her parents; a brother, Earl Jacobson; and many cousins.

Memorials are preferred to either Calvary Lutheran Church , Perham, or the Perham Memorial Hospital and Home.
