Funeral services for Marie Wilhelmina Doll, age 80, of Perham, MN, will be Friday, January 14, 2005, beginning at 11:00 a.m., in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Perham, with Reverend David Rieder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2005, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Marie died at the Thomas House II, in Perham, MN, Monday, January 10, 2005.
Marie was born October 10, 1924, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Fellerer) Westhoff, of Salem, SD. The family moved to Perham, MN, in 1926, and settled in Rush Lake Township. She was baptized in Salem, SD and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Church in Bluffton, MN. Marie attended school at District 13 Country School in Rush Lake Township. She was united in marriage to Bernard Doll, on October 17, 1944, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rush Lake Township. Their marriage produced four children who will miss her greatly.
Together, Marie and Bernard farmed in the Rush Lake area before moving to Perham. Marie worked at the St. James Nursing Home for many years. During this time, she obtained her LPN license. After retiring from nursing, Marie worked part-time with a catering service. Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening, embroidery, square dancing, playing cards, reading and working crossword puzzles. She volunteered at the Perham Area Public Library, St. Stanislaus church committees, blood mobiles and blood pressure clinics.
Surviving Marie are her children, James (Debbie) Doll, of Lakewood, CO, Diane (Henry) Benz, of Savage, MN, David (Connie) Doll, of Perham, MN, and Carol (Jack) Doepke, of Chisago City, MN; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lucille (Lorain) Goerdt, of Wendell, MN, Leon (Wauneeta) Westhoff, of Perham MN, Ann Weldon, of Deer Lodge, MT, Mike (Vyonne) Westhoff, of Stacy, MN, Jean Schmidt, of Fargo, ND as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Marie in death were her husband and her parents.
