Lyle Huwe

Lyle Vernon Huwe, age 81, formerly of Richville and Perham, currently at the MN Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on February 4, 2010.


Lyle was born on December 23, 1928 , in Corliss Township , rural Perham , MN , the son of Herman and Tina (Mier) Huwe. He was the fourth of nine children. From 1951-1953 Lyle served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. In November of 1953, he was united in marriage to Winnie Grover. To this union three children were born; Elaine, LuAnn and Vernon . Lyle worked with heavy equipment until the age of 55 when he became ill and had to quit working. He enjoyed deer hunting, dancing, coffee with friends, riding snowmobile and watching the birds. He also enjoyed flowers, both in his room and in the planter window. Lyle also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins. He was active in his church holding the position of chairman. Lyle also was a Mayor for the city of Richville , MN. He taught snowmobile rider training and was always available and willing to work in the church and community. Lyle also enjoyed many trips on the tour bus and especially enjoyed the time he and Winnie spent on the road purchasing cattle.



Lyle is survived by his wife of 56 years, Winnie; two daughters, Elaine (Dan) Bentley, New York Mills, MN; and LuAnn (Duane) Altstadt, Perham, MN; grandson, Joshua Tumberg; four brothers, Emil (Sally) Huwe, Leroy (Rosie) Huwe, Donald (Geri) Huwe and Marvin (Fran) Huwe; sister-in-law, Noreen Huwe; and brother-in-law, Bernard Danielson.



Preceding Lyle in death are his parents; three brothers, Elmer, Ervin and Norbert Huwe; sister, Ardell Danielson; infant son, Vernon Mark Huwe; and granddaughter, Christine Marie Tumberg.

Lyle will be missed by his family and host of friends.
