Luverne Lovaasen

Luverne Lovaasen died peacefully at Perham Health on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 surrounded by his beloved family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 beginning at 3:00 PM at the Vergas Event Center with Pastor Rob Pesola officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Vergas Events Center.

Luverne was born at the home farm near Park River, North Dakota on January 20, 1929 to Ole and Katie Lovaasen, the fourth of their seven children. At age 16, he moved to the Minneapolis area where he lived until 1972. Luverne married Barbara Mobley on August 27, 1955. He adopted her three boys, aged seven, five, and three and their daughter was born a year later. In 1972, they moved to Vergas where Luverne worked for Hanson's Plumbing and Heating until his retirement in 1991. Their home since 1972 was the farm on Lake Sybil.

Luverne is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; sons, Tim, Scott (Burnell), and Russ; daughter, Jeanne (Don) Greenwood; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
