Lou Ann Sazama

April 20, 1956 — November 21, 2024

Lou Ann Sazama, age 68 of Perham, passed away at her home under the care of CHI St. Joseph Hospice, after a brief battle with ALS. 

Lou Ann was born on April 20, 1956 to Einer “Pete” and Delores (Neva) Peterson in Jamestown, ND. She was raised in Fessenden, ND where she graduated from high school in 1974. After attending college in Bismarck, ND, she settled in Devils Lake, ND where she had a long career as a secretary for the Federal Probation Office. She was at one time married to Timothy Kiemele, giving her three wonderful children, Stefanie, Jodi, and Cory. Following retirement from US probation, she moved to Milbank, SD. 

On December 8, 2018, Lou Ann was united in marriage to Raymond Sazama at Harvest Church in Frazee, MN. Lou Ann prided herself in running a tidy and well-kept home. She enjoyed her time on the farm along with baking and watching NDSU football. She was very active with church activities at Harvest Church including weekly bible study and volunteering at the church thrift store. Affectionately known as “Nana”, Lou Ann’s favorite activities were those spent with grandkids and her family. 

Surviving Lou Ann is her husband, Ray Sazama of Perham; children, Stefanie (Dustin) Hagemann, of Tigard, OR, Jodi (Jordan) Koll of Carrington, ND, and Cory (Laura) Kiemele of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Owen Hagemann, Emma and Gunner Koll, and Timothy and Abigail Kiemele; her mother, Delores Peterson of Jamestown, ND; and brother, Terry (Char) Peterson of Fargo, ND. 

Preceding her in death were her father, Einer “Pete” Peterson; and brothers, Roger Peterson and Joel Peterson.

A special thank you to CHI St. Joseph Hospice of Park Rapids, Pastor Ryan Stockstrom, and the Harvest Church Fellowship for all of the care and comfort provided to Lou Ann and her family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Harvest Church in Frazee, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden, ND on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
