Lorraine E. Hemmelgarn, 87, of Perham, MN, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2012 at Perham Health surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 18, 2012, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, beginning at 1:00 p.m., with Father Joseph Herzing officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Perham. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is Thursday, May 17, 2012, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Lorraine was born on May 3, 1925, in Perham, MN, to John and Appolonia (Wagener) Johnson. Lorraine married Ervin Hemmelgarn on November 10, 1949 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Perham. She worked at Perham Egg for many years. In September of 1975, Lorraine started working in the kitchen at Perham Public Schools until her retirement in 1995. Ervin passed away on March 28, 1975. The most important thing in her life was family. Lorraine enjoyed Bingo and casinos.
Surviving Lorraine are three daughters, Bonnie (Ken) Kroetsch of Fargo, ND; Linda (Larry) Brasel of Dent, MN; and Cindy Hemmelgarn of Perham, MN; eight grandchildren, Justin Brasel, Nicole (Braden) Leimer, Holly Kroetsch, Michelle (David) Farber, Stacy (Mitch) Denny, Sarah (Ryan) Stoltenburg, James Mickelson, and Jaclyn Mickelson; three great-grandchildren, Owen and Austin Stoltenburg, and Brynne Denny; son-in-law, Robert Mickelson; and sisters-in-law, Elaine Johnson, Lorraine Johnson, and Aggie Hemmelgarn.
Preceding Lorraine in death are her parents; her husband, Ervin; daughter, Brenda Mickelson; three brothers, Pat, Romey, and Andy; and two sisters, Aggie Bleichner and Florence Pauly.
