Leon "Bud" Westhoff Sr., age 81, of Perham, MN, died on August 27, 2009 in the Minnesota Veteran's Home, Fergus Falls, MN.
Bud was born on October 20, 1927, to Henry J. and Gertrude A. (Fellerer) Westhoff. He was baptized at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and attended District 13 country school until 8th grade. After school, Bud worked on the family farm until he joined the Army Air Force when he was 18. He did his basic training in San Antonio, TX and was stationed in Japan for one year. He then moved back to Perham. Bud was united in marriage to Wilma "Neta" Reese on May 26, 1951, at St. John's Catholic Church, in Wyndmere, ND. They lived in Wyndmere where 3 of the 4 children were born. They then moved to Montana and lived there for five years until 1961 when they moved to the Perham area. They had a dairy farm in Perham for many years. In 1974, their fourth child was born.
Bud and Neta spent a lot of time with Card Club and church members. He also spent a lot of time with his best friend (Neta) going out to eat, going for rides, watching TV, watching birds, and just being with each other. Bud was also active with the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Bud is survived by his children, Leon Jr. (Judy) of Perham, MN; Jill Westhoff of Detroit Lakes, MN; John (Becky) of Perham, MN; and Nancy Westhoff of Perham, MN; seven grandchildren, Mark, Keri, Lisa, Tina, Dustin, Derek, and Jeremiah; six great-grandchildren, Erin, Andy, Kiata, Austin, Madison, and Zoie.
Preceding Bud in death is his parents; wife, Neta; his twin brothers; a sister, Marie; and one great-grandchild, Jasmine.
