Keith Morris Swanson, age 59, of Perham, MN, died in body on Monday, January 2, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Keith will be honored by his family and friends on Thursday, January 5, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 4 - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 6, at 11:00 am at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 8, at 5:00 pm at the Church of St. Paul in Ham Lake, MN.
Keith was born June 1, 1946 in Perham, MN, the son of Arvid and Marie (Gilbery) Swanson. He was raised in the Dent area, graduated from Perham High School in 1964, married his high school sweetheart, Trudy Esser, in 1966 and moved to the Minneapolis area shortly thereafter. He and Trudy raised their four sons in the metro area and in 2003 moved their family to Perham. In 1996 Keith and his son, Darrin, started Kit Masters, Inc. It was through Keith?s vision and his passion that they took a business that was started in his garage to the successful family business located in its newly expanded plant in Perham. Keith loved being in the presence of friends, both old and new. It didn't matter what their status was, he treasured those relationships and talked about them often. Keith loved his faith and lived in the strength of his faith. When people would witness the joy of that strength, they would frequently seek out its source. Keith was among the best of God's trumpeters and was proud to share his Christianity with others. Keith died of vascular disease at Fargo MeritCare Hospital. His dying was quick and painless as his family surrounded him.
Keith is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Trudy, Perham, MN; sons, Craig (Liz) Swanson, Perham, MN; Brian (Cindy) Swanson, Perham, MN; Darrin (Jill) Swanson, Perham, MN; and Trent (Maggie) Swanson, Perham, MN; eleven grandchildren, Curtis, Audrey, Alexandra, Keith, Nicole, Jacob, Randy, Paul, Mark, Kevin and Kyle; a brother, Jerald Swanson; and two sisters, Joyce Meyer and Peggy Wilcox.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Arvid and Marie Swanson; and two brothers, Lyle Swanson and William Swanson.
Keith was a member and supporter of St. Henry's Catholic Church. The fund drive to replace the Catholic School's furnace was one of his most recent passions. It is this type of cause he often believed in most: something so necessary, yet without glamour or glory. Our family earnestly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the "St. Henry's Furnace Fund." Donations can be sent to Kit Masters, Inc., 825 First Street, Perham, MN 56573.
