Kay Schmidt, age 76, passed away on Friday, December 06, 2013 in her home surrounded by her loving family and Red River Valley Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham with Pastor Carl Noble officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.
Kay Janet McGuire was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 15, 1937. After her mother died she moved to Perham to live with her aunt and uncle. She graduated from Perham High School. Kay was united in marriage to Jack Schmidt on July 23, 1955. She worked at Twin City Freight for 14 years. She then worked at Prime Egg and then at the PACC. She also was the "Avon Lady" for over 30 years. Kay worked all of these jobs while raising a family of 6 children.
She loved to grow plants and flowers, enjoyed riding bike, walking, doing crossword puzzles and going to the PACC. She was very proud of all of her children and all of their accomplishments. She loved her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She leaves behind her husband, Jack, of 58 years; her six children, Steve Schmidt, Mike (Tammy) Schmidt, Sandy (Gordon) Erickson, Lisa (Harold) Dahl, Tracy Schmidt, and Scott (Kelly) Schmidt; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Brenda McGuire.
