Joyce Arlene Westover, age 80, formerly of Perham, MN, and Park Rapids, MN, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006, in Cross Creek Nursing Home, Pensacola, FL. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 29, at 11:00 am at Schoeneberger Funeral Home with Reverend Bert Holmquist officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Basswood, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and one hour prior to services.
Joyce was born November 2, 1926, in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Richard and Anna (Johnson) Matchinsky. She attended Fergus Falls High School and graduated in 1944. She was united in marriage to Russ Westover on February 2, 1946. They moved to Perham where they established Westover's Plumbing and Heating and later Westover's Honda and Marine. They were involved with Saladmaster Corporation and in 1980 retired and moved to Park Rapids. Joyce was a kind mother and loving wife who worked beside her husband for 46 years until Russ's death in 1988. She will be sadly missed by her children.
Joyce is survived by her four daughters, Kathy (Bert) Thornton, Duluth, GA; Billie Kay (Louis) Lanier, Pace, FL; Tami (Gene) Schwartz, Wadena, MN; and Paige (Daniel) Trisco, Osakis, MN; seven grandchildren, Aspen (Jason) Kron, Chaice Thornton, Mayson Thornton, Jennifer Lanier, Louis Lanier, Drew Schwartz, and Taylor Schwartz; one great grandson, Thornton Matthew Kron; sister, Dorothy Ordal; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Matchinsky and Heddy Westover.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Russ; her parents; a brother, Russ Matchinsky; brothers-in-law, Loren Ordal, Darrell Westover, and Jack Westover; and one sister-in-law, Eleanor Westover.
