Jean Schmidt

Jean E. Schmidt, age 86, passed away on March 15, 2025 at the Frazee Care Center. She was born to Henry J. and Gertrude A. (Fellerer) Westhoff of Perham, Minnesota on November 11, 1938.

Jean was baptized at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and graduated from Perham High School. (P.H.S). She received a bachelor's degree in social work from Moorhead State University.

She had social service jobs in Elbow Lake, Alexandria, and Fargo. She returned to Perham and worked as a tutor at St. Henry's and Heart of the Lakes Elementary schools where she was known as "Grandma Jean" to students.

Jean enjoyed reading, gardening, and feeding the birds. She did craft projects and baked delicious treats which she liked to gift to others. She was a sports fan who kept up with games on TV and especially loved going to P.H.S home games.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.

A private service will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Rush Lake in rural Perham, at later date.

Memorials are preferred to the family.
