Jean Adele (Becker) Keena, age 68, of Perham, MN, died Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at 1:15 am at Autumn House in Perham. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2006, at 2:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, with Reverend Rhotto officiating. Burial will follow in the Perham Village Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to services.
Jean was born September 14, 1938, in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Stanley and Evelyn (Pike) Becker. She attended school in Cavalier, ND, graduating high school in 1956. Jean completed a business course at Aaker's Business College, Grand Forks, ND, in February 1957. On August 21, 1957, she was united in marriage to Dale F. Keena, USN. They resided in Oahu, HI, until his discharge in 1960. They then moved to Mayville, ND, while Dale finished his teaching degree and then on to Osnabrock and New Rockford, ND. In 1967 they moved to Grand Forks for Dale to finish his Master's Degree and UND and then to Humboldt and Barnesville, MN. Jean's employers included Elmo Christianson, Attorney, the ND Geological Survey at UND, the US Soil Conservation Service under Civil Service, by Avon and Welcome Wagon, Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store, in-home daycare for eight years and owned and operated a craft business for six years after retiring and moving to Big Pine Lake near Perham, in 1990.
Jean is survived by her husband, Dale, Perham, MN; two sons, Kelvin (Debra), Detroit Lakes, MN; and Kurt (Kathryn), Hastings, MN; three grandchildren, David (Taryn) Keena, Detroit Lakes, MN; Kayla Keena, Detroit Lakes, MN; and Elizabeth Keena, Hastings, MN; an AFS son, Stal Talsnes, Oslo, Norway; three brothers, Dale (Carol) Becker, Langdon, ND; Lee (Connie) Becker, Drayton, ND; and Terry (Calleen) Becker, Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Martha Becker, Cavalier, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Allen.
