Janet Arlene Nundahl, age 75, of Perham, MN, died on Friday, April 7, 2006, in her home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, rural Perham, with Reverend Del Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at a later time. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and one hour prior to services at the church.
Janet was born August 18, 1930 in Lockwood, MO, the daughter of John and Grace (Gardner) Ellison. Janet married Max Hanft in Iowa in 1956. Max died in 1959. She continued to live in Iowa before moving to Perham, MN, in 1975 when she bought Pine Lakes Lodge on Little Pine Lake. She later sold the lodge. On August 3, 1979 she married Bernie Nundahl in Watertown, SD. Janet managed the Perham VFW Club, worked with Bernie at Nundahl Oil in Perham, and later was a bookkeeper for Peter Paul Excavating. She retired in 2003. Janet loved to read, do crafts, make dolls, and cook. She was famous for her Granny Cake and Dutch Apple Pies. Janet was an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church.
Janet is survived by her husband, Bernie, Perham, MN; four daughters, Patricia (Todd) Hackett, Muscatine, IA; Connie Dean, Anderson, SC; Jane Harris, Perham, MN; and Brenda (Dave) Nyberg, Perham, MN; four sons, Dan (Janet) Nundahl, Moorhead, MN; Mike (Virginia) Nundahl, Perham, MN; Jerry Nundahl, Perham, MN; and Tony Nundahl, Dent, MN; one sister, Clara Tribler, Millersburg, IL; twenty-one grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Janet is preceded in death by her first husband, Max Hanft; a son, Greg Hanft; a brother, Charlie; and her parents.
