Janet Nermoe was the third born of seven children on January 17, 1945, in Breckenridge, MN, to Marvin and Marie Thimjon of Wahpeton, ND.
She graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1963 where she met the love of her life, John Nermoe. Janet graduated from NDSCS just two years later with an Associate's degree in Secretarial Arts. Janet and John were married on September 11, 1965, and raised two children, Bryan John (1966) and Heidi Leigh (1973).
Janet exercised steadfast patience with grace (which she learned from growing up with six brothers and sisters) and wore many hats as the mother of two very active children, including training to become a lane judge at Bryan's swim meets, serving as a leader for Heidi's Campfire group, serving as Den Mother for Bryan's Cub Scouts, and fundraising for Heidi's group musical performance trips to Disneyland and Carnegie Hall, to name just a few.
She instilled in Bryan and Heidi what it means to truly live by faith. She showed them firsthand the gifts that having compassion for others can bring, and most of all, the importance of family.
In addition to remaining a faithful servant of God, Janet was also very involved in the community, including FM Junior League, FM Home Builders Auxiliary and the Chapter DR PEO.
Over her career Janet worked in secretarial roles at the NDSU Athletic Department, Army ROTC, Small Business Administration and Fargo Public Schools. Her favorite job, however, was being a mom to Bryan and Heidi.
Janet always said the Lord took her mother far too early, but he blessed her with very special brothers and sisters who all remain close to this day. In the spirit of keeping everyone tightly connected over the years, Janet cherished hosting large family get-togethers, specifically on Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July. She valued staying in touch with all of her 22 nieces and nephews, their 39 children and 6 grandchildren.
Janet was blessed with two grand-daughters, Mallory (1996) and Lyndsey (2000). She treasured time with them on the lake, taught them how to sew, took them on a girls' trip to the American Girl Doll Place in Chicago, and attended all of their special events and activities.
In retirement, Janet continued to find ways to be a blessing to others, specifically those in need. She appreciated the extra time she had to garden, play cards with cherished friends, sew quilts, travel and spend time on the water.
Janet met her Heavenly Father and entered eternal rest Feb. 25, 2025, at the age of 80.
Janet is preceded in death by her mother, Marie; father, Marvin; and sister, Sharon (Larry) Carivau.
