James A. Nordbeck, Jr., age 62, of Dent, MN, died Monday, February 28, 2011, at his own home under the care of Hospice.
Jim was born June 6, 1948, in Fargo, ND, the son of James A., Sr. and Dorothy Nordbeck. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1966 and from Concordia College in 1994. Jim served in the Army Reserves out of Fargo for six years and during that time was united in marriage to Mary Casler in 1968. With Jim's passion for kids they provided Fostercare for twenty-two years taking in many teenagers. Jim also worked in construction most of his life being employed by his own company, Nordbeck Construction, and also for Concordia College supervising the carpentry department and Alexandria Technical College as an instructor until retiring in 2008.
Jim was active with Habitat for Humanity and several churches, being on the Council and the Fisherman at Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham. He loved golfing, biking, hiking, fishing, woodworking, traveling, reading and spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Amy (Joe) Guck and Lori (Kenny) Danielson; two sons, Tri (Hang) Trinh and Thy (Kim) Trinh; nine grandchildren, Isaac, Philip, Ethan, Kevin, Jason, Long, Tony, Thomas and Timothy; parents, Art and Dorothy Nordbeck; a brother, Greg (Sue) Nordbeck; two sisters, Roxanne (Jeff) Hunter and Kris (Kevin) Tjaden; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and foster children.
Preceding Jim in death are his grandparents and a brother, Cameron.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity.
