James Eyestone

October 30, 1921 — January 4, 2007

James Frederick Eyestone, age 85, of Sebeka, MN, died Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Tri-County Hospital, Wadena, MN. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 6, at 2:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will take place in the spring. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.



James was born on October 30, 1921, in Fergus Falls, MN, to Fred and Susan (Aldrich) Eyestone. Jim went through grade school in Nashua, MN, and high school in Tintah, MN. After high school, Jim enlisted in the Marine Corps and served through World War II. After discharge, Jim married Coreen Johnson. Together they had six children; Dale, Dorie, Dennis, Paul, Darlyne, and Barry. In 1963, Jim married Katie Helsene. They lived at Rush Lake by Ottertail, MN, and together had one son, Ricky Lee and two step-sons, Larry and Warren Helsene.



Jim enjoyed his hobby farm for deer hunting, snowmobiling, and four-wheeling. He enjoyed keeping up his big yard and garden. He loved watching sports of all kinds on television, particularly the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. He had a shop where he spent many hours making wood-working crafts, which he enjoyed giving to everyone. Jim was employed by Luedtke of Alexandria as a salesman. He and Katie also owned and operated the Perham Bowling Lanes from the mid 1960's to early 1970's. Jim was also employed by Perham Co-op Creamery and Service Food of Perham.



Jim is survived by his wife Katie, Sebeka, MN; children, Dale (Pat) Eyestone, Brainerd, MN; Dorie (Dean) Koppelman, Valley City, ND; Dennis (Theresa) Eyestone, Fargo, ND;

Paul (Julie) Eyestone, Plymouth, MN; Darlyne Eyestone, Fargo, ND; Barry Eyestone, Fargo, ND; and Ricky Lee Eyestone, Perham, MN; step-son, Larry Helsene, Brainerd, MN; brothers, Joe (Delores) Eyestone, Northfield, MN; and Bob (Gloria) Eyestone, Perham, MN; sisters, Gertrude Eyth of Pennsylvania; and Jeanette (John) Meyer of Ohio; brother-in-law and friend, Larry Johnson, Bloomington, MN; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.



Jim is preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Warren (Rusty) Helsene; sister, Kathryn Davidson; a niece, Susan Eyestone; a grandson, and a great granddaughter.
