James Albright

James Michael Albright died peacefully at his rural farm home in Dent, MN on March 1, 2024. He had been under the care of hospice for the previous month. James/Jim was born on July 1, 1958 in Perham, MN to parents, Edwin H. and Goldie Ann (Schriver) Albright.

He attended rural country school at District 164 for grades 1-6, and graduated from Perham High School in 1976. Jim was active in both 4-H and FFA, earning the Degree of State Farmer in 1975. After working a variety of jobs, Jim took over the family farm in the spring of 1979, including his own herd of 40 Holsteins. He milked cows until 2003, when health conditions forced him to sell the dairy and switch to beef cattle.

Jim will be remembered for his caring nature. Over the years, he was always there to provide housing or a helping hand to someone in need. Throughout his life he struggled with addictions, but his kind heart and compassion always outweighed the struggles. He was also known as an excellent cribbage player. Jim was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dora Township.

He is survived by his brother, Bruce and sister-in-law, Carol, Vergas, MN; nephew, Alec Albright and his fiancé, Megan McKnelly, Washington, D.C; stepsister, Kathleen Bauck/Helsene (Jim); and many cousins and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Edwin and Goldie; stepmother, Dorothy; nephew, Aaron Benjamin Albright; stepsister, Gayle Sonnenberg (Eugene); stepbrother, LeRoy Bauck (Lucille); his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.

Memorial Services will be held on April 20, 2024 at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, service at 11:00 AM, followed by a noon luncheon. Interment will be at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Dora at a later date. May he rest in peace. Long live the memory of James Michael Albright.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Dent Fire and Rescue.
