Irma Rosen Bauck, age 93, of Perham, MN, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Monday, October 4, 2004, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Terry Grzybowski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Irma was born September 22, 1911, in Lakota, ND, the youngest of five children, to Harry and Henrietta Marie (Rasmussen) Groves. She attended grade school and high school in Lakota, and then went to the Valley City Teachers College, Valley City, ND, where she was a member of the Madrigals. Her first teaching experiences were in country schools. While in Perham with her sister, Helen, Irma met Martin Rosen at the church's Young People's Society, and they were later married on June 13, 1936. Martin worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps, and they lived in Waterville, MN, Harrisonville, Columbia and Independence, MO. Irma gave birth to three sons during that time. When Martin died in 1946, she moved her family back to Perham, renewed her teaching certificate and began teaching in Dent, MN.
On July 21, 1947, Irma married Leland H. Bauck, and moved to Minneapolis where Lee was working at the university. Her family spent their summers on Little Pine Lake, rural Perham. Irma was active in her church and in the PTA, both as parent and teacher. She was a Cub Scout den mother, and for several years, she served as both a short and long term substitute teacher in Minneapolis schools.
When Irma and Lee retired in 1974 and moved to Perham, she became involved in various activities at St. Paul's Church, at the Perham Memorial Home and with the VFW Auxiliary. In her last months, she enjoyed singing with QuarterNotes and playing in the Tone Chimes at Perham Memorial Home.
Irma is survived by her sons, James (Mary) Rosen, of Laramie, WY, Dale Rosen, of Elmsford, NY and Dennis (Karen) Rosen, of Perham, MN; six grandchildren, Greta (Eric) Dewar, of Belchertown, MA, Kristin Rosen, of Madison, WI, Jon (Nancy) Rosen, of Dallas, TX, Fred (Tranixa) Rosen, of Baltimore, MD, Tom (Janie) Rosen, of Andover, MN and Gretchen (Jason) Franti, of Falls Church, VA; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Irma in death is her husband, Leland.
