Ida Jane Sherman, age 84, of Detroit Lakes, MN, ended her journey on Earth, Saturday, January 29, 2005, with her daughter and granddaughter at her side, at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls, MN. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
Ida Jane Grover was born in Dead Lake Township, rural Dent, MN, February 22, 1920, to Pearl (Eckert) Grover Ellis and Aubrey Grover. She married Lyle Whitney and had one daughter, Kay. She later married Merle Sherman and had a daughter, Melody. Ida Jane resided in Detroit Lakes for most of her adult life and currently lived at the Pioneer Care Center.
Ida Jane enjoyed her family and friends, and cared about so many people. She loved writing and reciting poetry, gardening and floral design, canning, cooking and baking, dancing and music. Ida Jane also loved nature and travel, picnics, teacups and sharing conversation over a cup of black tea or coffee.
Surviving Ida Jane are her daughters, Kay (John) Reger, New York Mills, MN and Melody (Robert Tracy) Gentle, Fergus Falls, MN; two granddaughters, Crystal Anne Reger, Moorhead, MN, and Ashley Ann Henderson, St. Paul, MN and three great-grandchildren, Justin and Tiffany Anne Perry and Brittany Jo Stanfield.
Preceding Ida Jane in death were her parents, Pearl and Aubrey; two grandchildren, Bradley Nurmi and Roxanne Stanfield; four brothers, Jefferson, Thomas, Oakley and Cyril and a sister, Orel Genoch.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 3, 2005, from noon to 2 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN. Burial will follow at the Richville Village Cemetery, Richville, MN.
