Harriet H. (Merrill) Kimple, age 88, of Dent, MN, died Friday, July 20, 2007, after a brief illness. Her husband, Jim, son, John, and granddaughter, Alison, were by her side. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 22 at 2:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, Richville, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Harriet Halbert Merrill was born June 9, 1919, the daughter of Whitney and Gertrude Merrill in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield, IA. While in Iowa she met James "Jim" Kimple. She and Jim were married on August 1, 1941, in Omaha, NE. They were long time residents of Monmouth, NJ, and summer visitors to Dead Lake, MN, and in 2005 they moved permanently to Dead Lake. Harriet's interests were varied and included her family being foremost, the Girl Scouts, women's and family issues, the arts, including theater, painting, classical music, and especially jewelry making. Her jewelry was appreciated by all who saw it. Harriet will be remembered as bright, creative, kind, and caring. She will be missed by us all.
Harriet is survived by her husband, Jim, Dent, MN; four children, James, Jr., John, Eric, and Joan; four grandchildren, Aaron, Kate, Alison, and Justin; four great grandchildren, Ethan, Thane, Grace, and Hannah; and many nieces and nephews.
