Gladys Hazel Quiram, age 88, of Richville, MN, died at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home, Perham, MN, Sunday, April 25, 2004. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., in Richville at the United Methodist Church. Reverend Rod Tornquist will officiate. Burial will follow in the Richville Village Cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home is Monday, April 26, 2004, from 4:00 to 8:00 a.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m, as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Gladys was born the daughter of Ernest and Ethel Ann (Babbcock) Lillis, in Dead Lake Township, rural Richville, MN, on February 25, 1916. She was raised and attended school near Richville through the eighth grade. Gladys worked as a housekeeper/nanny for the Hanson Family, near Battle Lake, MN. On January 24, 1934, she and Carl Quiram were united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church, Dora Township, rural Dent, MN. They made their home near Dent on the home farm from 1940-1949. They then moved near Perham and, later, returned to the Dent area. Carl died on April 27, 1968. She continued to live near Dent before moving, once again, to Perham. at the age of 52, Gladys earned her high school GED. She enjoyed gardening, flower gardening, watching hummingbirds, music, singing, quilting, and she loved reading her Bible. Gladys volunteered at the Women's Relief Corp of Richville, MN and was known as "Grandma" to many of the kids in Richville. She entered the Perham Memorial Home in July of 2002.
Surviving Gladys are six sons, Vern (Diane), of Frazee, MN, Don, of Blaine, MN, Ray (Flo), of Berlin, NH, Bill (Jean), of Ottertail, MN, Les (Julie), of New York Mills, MN, Larry, Lexington, MN; five daughters, Carlys Quiram, of Richville, MN, Vonnie (Joe) Heifort, of Lexington, MN, Faye (Bill) Luedtke, of Fergus Falls, MN, JoAnne (Thom) Murphy, of St. Michael, MN, and Kathy Anderson, of Richville, MN; thirty grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Violet Robinson, of Hibbing, MN and Clarice Gunderson, of Perham, MN and one brother, Les (Lila) Lillis, of Silver Bay, MN.
Preceding Gladys in death is her husband; one daughter, Jan Dorsch; her parents; two sisters and three brothers.
