Georgene Y. Fresonke

Georgene Fresonke, age 76, of Dent, MN, died on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Perham Health, Perham, MN. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 on Friday, May 19 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Visitation will resume beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 on Saturday, May 20 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dent. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Lunch and fellowship will follow at the Dent Community Center.

Georgene Yvonne Harthun was born February 25, 1947, in Fergus Falls, MN. Georgene was the second of four daughters born to George and Mignonette (Beaulieu de Huden) Harthun. Georgene was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dent. She grew up on a farm in Star Lake Township then the family bought and moved to George’s home place on Dead Lake in Star Lake Twp. Georgene attended rural school and had the honor of having her mother, Mignonette Harthun, as her teacher for most of those years. She also attended Perham High School and graduated from there in 1965.

Georgene met Alfred Fresonke in Dent on July 3, 1966, and the next day they had their first date, on the fourth. On August 5 of that year, they were engaged and on October 21, they were married (short courtship, long marriage). Together they had three children: Brian Alfred, Stacey Georgene, and George William.

For over 31 years, Georgene worked as a teller at Farmer’s State Bank in Dent. She was an active member of the Dent American Legion Auxiliary where she served as president for 15 years. Georgene was also an active member of the Dent Community Club, served as co-chair of the Dent Centennial, and was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.

Georgene enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, being with her friends, card parties, weekends in St. Cloud with her cousins, and spending time with the Byer kids and then the Briard kids. But most of all, she loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Surviving Georgene are her husband of 57 years, Alfred; three children Brian (Shelly), Stacey, and George; grandchildren Christopher Haugen, Abby Fresonke, and Jay Fresonke; her two sisters Marcia Busick and Joyce (Bruce) Wiese; four nieces Cheryll (Roman) Woinarowicz, Tammy (Stephen) Sedgwick, Kristie (Matthew) Graves, and Sheila Yanish; three nephews Grant (Susan), Richard (Sue), and Paul (Kathy) Fresonke; along with numerous cousins and friends.

Preceding Georgene in death were her parents; her sister Angeline Harthun; her parents-in-law William and Helena Fresonke; brothers-in-law Henry, Elmer, and Ervin Fresonke, and Bob Busick; sisters-in-law Johanna, Darlene, and Avis Fresonke; her nephew Bob Fresonke; and her nieces Shari Fresonke and Barbara Bishop.
